MULTNOMAH COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY CALLS FOR THE DEFENSE OF DR. SEUSS ON READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY

Saturday, March 2nd, birthday of national children’s book author and icon Theodore Geisel, known as “Dr. Seuss,” is National Read Across America Day. The Multnomah County Republican Party is alarmed to report that Dr. Seuss has come under attack in the Portland Public Schools.

“The Portland Public Schools are now under control by such extreme Leftists,” reports Chair James Buchal, “that they are teaching elementary school students that Dr. Seuss was a racist and his books must be banned from contaminating Portland’s children”. The Republican Party has obtained documents from a Public Record Acts request to Portland Public Schools reporting that efforts were underway by “parents, teachers and also students . . . to determine if Read Across America needs to be detached from Dr. Seuss.”

The Republican Party notes that the official NEA reading list for the event has become a hash of multicultural offerings about little girls in foreign countries that, in substance, continues American education’s longstanding War Against Boys. “Boys want to read about adventures and heroes,” said Buchal, “not about how young Prince Sebastian “puts on daring dresses and takes Paris by storm as the fabulous Lady Crystallia, the hottest fashion icon in the world capital of fashion!’”

Portland parents interested in refocusing the Portland Public Schools on critical and fundamental skills like reading, writing and arithmetic, as opposed to Leftist indoctrination, are encouraged to contact Party Headquarters to join with other like-minded parents.
